Spratt Votes to Extend Unemployment Benefits

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. John Spratt (D-SC) and a bipartisan majority of his House colleagues Thursday approved legislation that will aid workers who have lost their jobs. The Emergency Extended Unemployment Compensation Act would provide up to 13 weeks of extended unemployment benefits to jobless workers in every state. The bill passed the House 274-137.

John Spratt (D-SC) today outlined the series of steps Congress has taken to help bring down the cost of gasoline and deliver relief to drivers across South Carolina. Spratt Supports Bill to Ease Gas Prices
(5/16/2008) - WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. John Spratt (D-SC) voted for legislation that would temporarily suspend the filling of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) until the end of the year and hopefully bring down the cost of gasoline. The Strategic Petroleum Reserve Fill Suspension and Consumer Protection Act was approved on May 13 by a vote of 385-25 in the U.S. House of Representatives. The U.S. Senate passed a similar provision by a vote of 97-1.
