The Obama Administration inherited a deficit of well over $1 trillion and the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.

Congress has already taken steps to create jobs and rebuild our economy by enacting the Recovery Act.

As chairman of the House Budget Committee, I helped to craft the budget resolution for Fiscal Year 2010 - an economic blueprint for the future that builds on these initial steps by making strategic investments to rebuild our economy over the longer term – including investments in health care reform, education, and energy independence – and by putting the budget back on a path to fiscal sustainability.
